<image:caption>Week 3 had me looking to create the depth from the foreground into the harbor scene. This part of the composition was inspired by the paintings of Pieter Brugel and how he portrayed everyday life within the landscape. I loved the way the trees in the foreground created a sense of distance.</image:caption>

<image:caption>The final draft fo the design was now scanned in and sized to the wall and a figure added for reference to scale. A late decision to scale mural down and give the dark green/gray background would allow for more time to focus on details and visually framed the piece in the otherwise off-white room. Trompe l'oeil paneling and frame will set the mural off creating a whole wall work of Art.</image:caption>

<image:caption>We brought back much needed formality to this repurposed 1850’s Baptist Church in Rockport, Maine not by adding real wood but by “fooling the eye” with hand painted wainscot panels. This use of traditional trompe l’oeil painting adds a wonderful sense of painted finishes and leads from the dining room into the great room and our incredible mural which can be seen on the mural link.</image:caption>

<image:caption>This 12’ wide shaped “Headboard” painting was created to anchor the bed to the scale of the bedroom. Gold metallic leaf was used as a base and a combination of acrylic and metallic pigments allow for light to sweep over the work as the sun passes from sunrise to sunset. The scene contains a sunrise on the left and a “MoonShadow” night on the right as scene from the back of this property overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. A Moroccon inspired frame was created to contain the 5 panels and merge the clients aesthetics in this 10 month Covid Year Collaboration.</image:caption>

<image:caption>Hand Painted trompe l'oeil panels in Islesboro, ME estate dining room with Three Color Strie’ Glazed trim. This room was originally appointed by the London design team from Colefax and Fowler back in the early 1980’s. The act of closing and opening up the island home every year eventually led to crumbling plaster and a room in disrepair. That is when my client asked we make it like it was! All the hand-painted mural paper was removed and walls were repaired and relined with a new synthetic canvas that will help withstand the islands brutal conditions. Before this I created “cartoons” of each panel and practiced to recreate the original hand of the amazing decorative artists that made this gem.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Decorative Painting - Whimsical Lakeside Cottage</image:title>
<image:caption>One of many things we created in this incredible project was this croquet inspired stairway that the designer dreamed up and we made reality. This 1940’s cottager was totally brought down to the studs and made new but we brought back the character the client desired and then some.</image:caption>

<image:caption>After mentioning the importance of smaller projects the other day I thought I would share another one just installed this past Sunday for a local resident whose long gravel road / driveway needed a bit of whimsy and color to be sure others could find her rural home. That and she wanted something that would make her smile as she drove home each day. Not sure of how we ended with snoopy snoozing on a rainbow, but when she sent a deposit it included a 22 year old Peanuts comic and she does love and rescue beagles so maybe that is how Any which way it was a fun and cheerful project and made her smile and that is a big part of why I do what I do.</image:caption>
