Inspiration and Ways of Seeing

I still have some of my father’s fishing lures, actually my grandfather’s, down in the basement and lately I have noticed I have been seeing antique lures everywhere- I am in Maine. Funny how you finally “See” what is right in front of you when the time is correct.

My LOVE of folk art and of being a traveling Itinerant Artisan initiated a small series of paintings based on lures and water; Rethinking traditional mark making techniques to say what I needed to in these peices as well as “building” the imagery through layers and layers of paint and other materials started something that now has me giddy and obsessed.

As the 2019 Art Season begins here I am excited to share and to continue to create variations on this theme and see where they take me.
